Abstract

Professor Levi R. Bryant presents his ideas on what and how object is constituted within the dynamic field of matter and energy. He employs a few metaphors to emphasize the emergent quality of this process: origami, fold and wave. Bryant also clarifies that object-oriented ontology should not be identified with either speculative realism or Harman's object-oriented philosophy. He also offers critique of the latter from the perspective of speculative realism and object-oriented ontology which are considered as broader in scope than the Neo-Aristotlean proposition of Graham Harman.
