Abstract

This column of the Interactive Web discusses the author’s experiences with Twitter as a medical librarian, reasons for leaving, and a consideration of potential alternatives or replacements. There has been a large and active community of medical librarians on Twitter for many years, linked by use of #medlibs hashtag—but recent changes to the platform may drive some to depart. There are other social media platforms with long-standing librarian communities, but the expanding open source platform Mastodon shows particular promise.
