Abstract

Abstract Thrombin stimulated lactate formation in intact, but not disrupted, platelets, an effect inhibited by ADP and ATP. ADP and ATP stimulated lactate formation in disrupted, but not intact, platelets, an effect inhibited by thrombin. Both nucleotides altered the electrophoretic mobility of thrombin in polyacrylamide gel without affecting its molecular weight. Binding of thrombin to nucleotides could not be demonstrated by gel filtration, equilibrium dialysis, or affinity chromatography.
