Abstract

We used the age-momentum correlation technique at the high energy position beam in Stuttgart for the study of ortho-positronium in fine alumina powders. At low temperatures, the irradiation of the positron beam creates stable paramagnetic defects on the surfaces of the powder grains. The age-momentum correlation spectra are analyzed in terms of the age-dependent line-shape and peak-to-valley parameter. A model considering a surface positronium state and a slow thermalizing inter-particle positronium state is proposed to explain the spectra.
