Abstract

The interaction of NO 2N 2O 4 with terbium sesquioxide, lanthanum oxide, vanadium sesquioxide, and perovskite phase PrCrO 3 has been studied as a function of the temperature of interaction and the pressure of NO 2. Two methods of investigation have been employed: (a) analysis of the reacted species and (b) the infra-red spectra of the reacted products. It has been found that the interaction leads to oxidation, nitration and nitrition as competing processes.
