Abstract

AbstractIn any wide bandwidth transmission system, the equalization of amplitude and group delay plays an important part in obtaining acceptable transmission quality. In the forthcoming INTELSAT TDMA/DSI system the need to measure the amplitude and group delay response in a time‐shared 80 MHz transponder has led to the design and construction of a new measuring instrument: the burst mode link analyser (BMLA). In this paper, the design principles and method of operation of the BMLA are discussed, together with an overview of its internal architecture.
