Abstract

This report proposes an intelligent database design environment (IDDE), which can be implemented above a relational Data Base Management System (DBMS) software and which aids the design and implementation of an integrated database system. In the report the application domain is represented by the discrete engineering manufacturing industry. The report analyses the application dependent facts and rules with respect to this particular domain and also examines how the database design rules can be applied in order to ensure the data integrity. Finally the detailed architecture of the IDDE is represented.
