Abstract
More complex data acquisition systems require a large number of sensors for measuring a wide variety of parameters. A digital us structure is required to make such a system commercially viable and to avoid excessive cabling. An integrated silicon sensor bus is presented in this paper. Special emphasis has been put on the incompatibility issue, the desired bus structure and the signal format. The RS-422-A bus standard has been chosen as a suitable vehicle to investigate these issues. The bus circuits have been fabricated for that purpose in a bipolar process.
