Abstract

The concept of integrated river basin development was widely recognised as early as the third decade of this century and was strongly associated with the multipurpose water development projects. This paper examines the processes of development in the Nile basin against important factors and circumstances that influenced the shaping of these processes and patterns of development. The paper then outlines the challenges to the Nile basin countries to realize the integrated river basin approach.
