Abstract

Student consulting is offered by many colleges and universities in the United States. These consulting projects are a critical component of the courses in which they are offered. In this paper, we examine how the instructor can help students work more effectively by adjusting the team formation process, influencing the selection of team leaders, encouraging teams to delegate responsibilities and providing on-going support. The implications of the suggested team-building and instructor support strategies for managing the relationship with the client and streamlining the consulting process are discussed.
