Abstract

The institutional logics perspective has been increasingly applied in the field of management and organization in recent decades. Although there are extant literature reviews concerning the institutional logics perspective, none of them provides a comprehensive understanding thereof in management and organization studies. To address this limitation, we provide an integrated research framework that synthesizes and evaluates works on the institutional logics perspective in the field of management and organization from 1991 to 2022 and identify opportunities for future research. First, we employ a bibliometric approach to identify the state and knowledge structure of institutional logics research in the field of management and organization. Second, we conduct a systematic literature review of 129 articles published in top journals to determine the key questions and insights within the three themes that form this knowledge framework. Finally, an agenda for future research is proposed to advance the institutional logics perspective in management and organizational studies.
