Abstract

Node deployment is a reflection of cost and performance in Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks (UASNs). In this paper, we compared three different node deployment strategies, namely random deployment, grid deployment and tetrahedral deployment, on aspects of node number, end-to-end delay, localization accuracy, coverage and connectivity. Simulation shows that tetrahedral deployment strategy has the smallest localization error. As connectivity is to be ensured, coverage can be reduced depending on the ratio of r/s.
