Abstract

The alkylation of 3-buten-1-ol with organoaluminum reagents promoted by titanium compounds was studied. With ethylaluminum compounds 3- buten-1-ol was alkylated in the presence of TICl 4, Cp 2TiCl 2, and Ti(acac) 2Cl 2 to give varying mixtures of 1-hexanol, 3-methyl-1-pentanol, and trans-3- hexen-1-ol.
