Abstract

This paper presents a new structure-simple and cost-low three-wavelength erbium-doped fiber laser (TW-EDFL), which can output three wavelengths of 1530nm, 1540nm and 1550nm, and stably realize output power of 1.5mW. After researching the links among the length of erbium-doped fiber (EDF), the pump power and the output power, we get the conclusion that the best length of erbium-doped fiber (EDF) is 4.15m and the best pump power is 200mW. By adding three variable optical attenuators (VOA), applying the method of gaining equalization to balance gain and loss of three signal lights in the resonant cavity [1-2], the mode competition effect of TW-EDFL at room temperature will be successfully avoided.
