Abstract

The author, a physicist who studies lepton and quark substructure at Fermilab and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), discusses the Standard Model of particle physics, which covers electromagnetic forces. The structure of protons, neutrons, and electrons are discussed, as well as the fundamental forces of gravitation and strong and weak nuclear forces. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at Cern is discussed, as well as muons, taus, and quark flavors such as strange and bottom. Radioactive decay, nuclear alchemy, and bosons are also mentioned.
