Abstract

The mechanisms of fatigue damage and crack propagation occurring in some textured face-centered cubic sheet metals have been examined by using metallographic techniques. The observations indicate that material properties such as texture can have considerable influence over the operative fatigue damage and crack propagation mechanisms. They also suggest a close correspondence between the mechanism of fatigue damage and mode of crack propagation.
