Abstract

Inhomogeneous phenomena in high temperature superconductors have been discussed in terms of chemical inhomogeneity, incommensurate modulation and electronic inhomogeneity. It is found that the inhomogeneity associated with the incommensurate modulation in Bi-based superconductors, the phase separation and stripe phase in La-214 superconductors is of general characteristic. In other words, non-perfectness of CuO 2 planes and/or the non-uniformity of carrier distribution are the common phenomena in high temperature superconductors. While the chemical inhomogeneity in high temperature superconductors is also hardly avoided.
