Abstract

Objective To explore the impact of red clover isoflavones on the prostatic hyperplasia induced by testosterone propionate and Estradiol benzoate in rats.Methods A rat experimental model of prostatic hyperplasis was established by subcutaneously injecting mixture of Estradiol benzoate and testostergroup,positive control group and negative control group respectively.The wet weight of prostate and prostate index was calculated at the end of the experiment and morphological changes in rats were observed by the HPIAS-1000 Graphic Image Analysis System.Results As compared with the models of prostatic hyperplasia ( 1371.10 ±99.60; 2.04 ±0.13),the wet weight of prostate and prostate index were significantly decreased in red clover isoflavones group (780.31 ±47.10; 1.79 ±0.12) (P 0.05 ).Morphological results revealed that the prostatic hyperplasia could be inhibited by red clover isoflavones in rats.Conclusion Red clover isoflavones could significantly inhibit prostatic hyperplasia in rats.
