Abstract
Mevalonate kinase preparations from Hevea brasiliensis, Cucumis melo, Phaseolus vulgaris and Saccharomyces cerevisiae have been found to be inhibited by geranyl, farnesyl, geranylgeranyl and phytyl pyrophosphates. The inhibitors were competitive with respect to MgATP 2−; inhibitor constants ( K i ) have been measured. The most potent inhibitors were farnesyl and phytyl pyrophosphates.
