Abstract
Eu 1−xSr xCoO 3−y systems where x = 0.00, 0.25, 0.50, and 0.75 were synthesized by the solid state reaction, and their structures were analyzed by XRD and IR spectroscopy. The structures show orthorhombic between x = 0.00 and 0.20 and cubic between x = 0.30 and 0.90. The nature of Co-O bond which has close relationship with electrical conductivity was found to be affected by the Sr substitution based on the IR spectra. Based on the electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient measurements, the electrical conduction mechanism is broadening of t 2 g ∗ and e g ∗ bands and depends on the amount of Co 4+ induced by the addition of Sr and nonstoichiometry.
