Abstract

The infrared spectra of methyl, ethyl and isopropyl thiocyanate have been studied from 4000 to 300 cm −1 and vibrational assignments for these compounds are presented. The complexity of the CS stretching region (725-550 cm −1) in alkyl thiocyanates is interpreted on the basis of restricted rotation about the C αS and C αC β bonds.
