Abstract

A conceptual data schema specifies the structure of the 'data base' for a computer based information system. Data stored in the data base bear information that the information system provides. Thus the schema is the major factor that determines the information system's capability of providing information. In this paper, we propose four conditions for such information bearing capability, and then examine this capability's quantitative aspect. The contribution of this work is that it deepens our understanding of an information system's capability of providing information
