Abstract
Ultrasonic vibration-assisted processing has a great advantage in adhesion formation of CFRP-bonded joints. Its high-frequency vibration can effectively improve the fluidity and crosslinking mixing of adhesive, thereby promoted the permeation of adhesive into the substrate microstructure and enhance the mechanical properties of adhesive bonded joints. In this work, ultrasonic vibration-assisted processing was applied to the CFRP adhesive bonded joints, and different processing time and adhesive types were considered. The results showed that ultrasonic vibration-assisted processing could improve mode-I fracture toughness of CFRP-bonded joints significantly, and the processing time was an important factor. Moreover, for different adhesives, the effect of ultrasonic vibration on the bonding performance was different, which was worth paying attention to when bonding. Furthermore, to better illustrate the effect of ultrasonic vibration, the fracture morphology of adhesive bonded joints and the percentage of various failure modes were discussed. This work provides a reference for the bonding technology with ultrasonic vibration, and deserves further study.
