Abstract

Electron spin resonance and low-frequency relaxation measurements were performed on KCr alum placed in a helium gas atmosphere. The results for various gas pressures could be accurately described by a thermal conduction model that accounts for the heat conduction in the gas. It is shown that the bad heat conduction in the gas bottlenecks the spin-lattice relaxation behaviour, even at the saturation pressure.
