Abstract
An analysis of transmission electron microscopy studies of thin Cd 1 − x Mn x Te films prepared by the hot wall vacuum evaporation method on NaCl substrates is presented. The effect of the substrate temperature (varied from room temperature to 450 °C) and the source temperature (varied from 430 °C to 1000 °C) has been investigated and it was found that the substrate temperature had the most obvious influence on the crystalline structure and on the average grain size. The results are discussed on the basis of known theories of nucleation.
