Abstract

Results of tests, carried out so far for MSBS system rifles, have shown a large impact of muzzle devices on spread of shots pattern. In order to select the optimal design of the muzzle device, a series of firings were carried out, primarily with a light machine gun and a sniper rifle. It was assumed that a weapon jump, which is also the most easily measurable parameter, is the main factor affecting the shot pattern at precision firings. The jump parameters were determined by using a unique laboratory stand that allows measurement in conditions as close as possible to the real ones. Measurements of barrel movement were also made for selected designs with a high speed camera. The results of laboratory tests were verified by shootings on the range.
