Abstract

The influence of the starting powder composition, grinding conditions, and sintering temperature on the compaction mechanism under sintering and the porosity and microstructure of titanium has been studied. The compaction of titanium produced from titanium hydride is determined by the specific surface of the starting powders and may reach 40–45%. The internal structure of the material does not have a considerable effect. On the contrary, the intensity of titanium powder sintering is rather low (10–12%) and is determined by the initial titanium lattice since no noticeable refinement of the powder is observed even under the most intensive grinding.
