Abstract

Objective To explore the influence of the coping skills on the self-care ability and pulmonary function of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). Methods A total of 128 cases of COPD patients at stable phase in respiratory department in our hospital from October 2014 to October 2015 were selected and were randomly divided into observation group and control group according to the drawing method, with 64 cases in each group.The control group was given the regular care, while the observation group received systematic family intervention.The intervention took 3 months.The self-care ability and quality of life of patients of the two groups were evaluated by the self-care agency (ESCA) scale and COPD quality of life questionnaire for adults(AQLQ)before and after the intervention. Results The score of nursing skill, sense of responsibility, knowledge mastery and self-care concept of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). The elimination of wheezy phlegm, infection control and the length of stay of the observation group was better than that of the control group(P<0.05). The activity limination, the symptom of COPD, psychological status, self-health, the response to the stimulus and the total score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusions Systematic family intervention can improve the self-care ability of COPD patients, improve the quality of life of patients and promote the recovery of patients.
