Abstract

A theoretical investigation of the effect of solar modulation on the sea-level cosmic-ray muon spectrum measured at Kiel is carried out. An absolute calculation of the Kiel spectrum yields good agreement. The calculated value of the muon intensity at 1 GeV/ c is 2.69 × 10 −6 per (cm 2 sr sec MeV/ c within 2.5% of the Kiel value of 2.79 × 10 −6.
