Abstract
E VER SINCE business executives first served as Presidential advisors and Cabinet officials, men have speculated on what businessmen learn from service in Washington. In a period marked by growing interdependence of business and government, by expansion in the impact of federal policies on the lives of every citizen, and by participation of men such as Defense Secretaries Robert Lovett, Charles Wilson, Neil McElroy, Thomas Gates, and Robert McNamara and Treasury Secretaries John Snyder, George Humphrey, Robert Anderson, and Douglas Dillon in the formation of vital policies, this question becomes even more intriguing.
