Abstract

Abstract This paper is one of a series of papers concerned with the complete qualitative study of the different modifications of classical Volterra-Lotka equations. This paper tries to analyse the qualitative peculiarities of predator-prey system behaviour. These peculiarities appear when important ecological processes are considered (such as the saturation of predators, competition among predators and prey, etc.) which were not taken into account in the Volterra-Lotka model. The dynamic effects appearing when separate processes are under investigation and, (mainly) the effects of their interaction, are of interest here. The object of this paper is the complete qualitative study of predator-prey system dynamics with two processes (in addition to the Volterra model) taken into account. Namely, (1) the saturation of the predator population, and (2) the competition of predators for prey.
