The influence of pornography use and social interaction on South Korean males’rape myth acceptance

Abstract

강간통념은 성폭력 가해의 예측 요인 혹은 가해자의 특성으로 지목되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 한국 성인 남성의 강간통념에 음란물 이용이 미치는 영향 및 이들 관계에서 사회적 교류의 조절효과를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구대상은 2010년 여성가족부의 전국 성폭력실태조사의 남성 일반 조사대상자인 만 19세 이상 성인남성 586 사례이다. 연구결과, 음란물 이용은 강간통념 수용에 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고 사회적 교류가 강간통념 수용에 미치는 영향은 유의하지 않았다. 하지만 음란물 이용이 강간통념 수용에 미치는 영향을 사회적 교류가 완충하는 조절효과가 발견되었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 음란물 이용이 강간통념에 미치는 부정적 영향을 완화하고 완충할 수 있는 예방적, 실천적 개입방안을 논의하였다.Rape myth acceptance (RMA) is pointed as a predict variable of sexual assault or one of the characters of sexual offenders. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of pornography use on RMA and the moderating effect of social interaction on the relationship between pornography use and RMA. 586 male adults were sampled from the Nationwide Survey of Sexual Assault in South Korea, 2010. The results of the regression analysis indicated that pornography use had a positive impact on RMA, although the social interaction had no significant impact on male adult s RMA. Social interaction was verified to moderate the impact of pornography use on RMA. Based on these results, implications for prevention and practice were discussed.
