Abstract

Young phytophagous fish ( Ctenopharyngodon idella Val., Hypophthalmichthys molitrix Val., Aristichtys nobilis Rich.) as an addition to the usual stock of common carp in ponds reduce the effects of grazing of fish upon zooplankton. This is expressed by a greater contribution of small species in the total number of crustaceans. Big species are more frequently found in ponds with phytophagous fish than in ponds with carp only.
