Abstract

These studies aimed to investigate the effect of PECVD-nitrogen plasma treatment on the cotton gauze surfaces at 5, 10, 15, 20, and 30 min. The FESEM, AFM, and FTIR analysis examine the topography, morphology, and functional group composition changes on the treated cotton surface. The FESEM and AFM revealed surface morphological changes with an increased surface roughness in all treated cotton. FTIR revealed that nitrogen plasma intensified the existing functional group and introduced the new –NH functional group on cotton’s surfaces. This work demonstrates that PECVD-nitrogen plasma can modify the cotton surfaces without affecting their bulk properties.
