Abstract

Unsignalized intersections consist of Two-Way Stop-Controlled (TWSC) and All-Way Stop-Controlled (AWSC) intersections. The right-of-way relationships between traffic movements are various at unsignalized intersections in light of traffic laws. Based on the relative researches about the capacity models derived by conflict technique method for estimating the capacities of vehicular movements under the mixed traffic conditions, the impact of pedestrian and bicycle movements to capacities of vehicular movements was explored by comparison analysis at TWSC and AWSC intersections. The results showed that the influence of non-motorized movements on capacities of vehicular movements can be remarkable at unsignalized intersections. Furthermore, the capacity fields of minor-street vehicular movements were proposed under the conditions of different volumes of non-motorized movements at TWSC intersections and the relationships between the volumes of non-motorized movements and the capacities of vehicular movements were provided at AWSC intersections.
