Abstract

The elastic, electronic, and optical properties of Cd0.75Mg0.25Te are studied in this study. The calculated structural parameters and optical band gaps of CdTe and MgTe are highly consistent with the reported experimental data. The dynamical and mechanical stability of Cd0.75Mg0.25Te is further verified. There is little difference on the elastic constants among three compounds. The results show that Cd0.75Mg0.25Te has a larger band gap (1.83 eV) than CdTe (1.41 eV). The analysis of optical properties reveals that Cd0.75Mg0.25Te still exhibits good light absorption ability in the visible region.
