Abstract

The action of mechanical treatment on the silicate network of talc was studied by X-ray diffraction and differential thermal and chemical analysis methods. The formation of “hydroxyl water” was found to occur under the action of mechanical treatment during mineral amorphization. The amount of hydroxyl water predetermined the number of dissociating unsaturated Si-O bonds in talc silicate network Si-O-Si bridges.
