Abstract

The phenomenological two-state model usually used to describe the influence of external fields on neutron oscillations is illustrated and extended in order to take into account the vector character of magnetic fields. It is shown that, for sufficiently weak fields, the solution of the extended model can be reduced to the solution of three independent two-state models, one for each vector component. This result is useful for the calculation of antineutron losses in neutron oscillation experiments.
