Abstract

The aim of this study was to study the effect of magnetic therapy and magnetic laser therapy on diabetic painful distal symmetrical sensorimotor neuropathy in patients with concomitant resistant hypertension. Materials and methods. The study included 70 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus with diabetic neuropathy and concomitant arterial hypertension II stage, who were observed by a family doctor. Patients were divided into 3 reference groups, approximately identical in clinical and functional parameters, age and basic therapy: the first group, n = 30 (placebo control of magnetic and magnetic laser therapy), the second group, n = 20 (magnetic therapy), the third group, n = 20 (magnetic laser therapy). The dynamics of neuropathic disorders was assessed in all groups before and after the complex treatment according to the UENS scale. Quality of life indicators was assessed by the EQ-5D scale. Results. The most positive dynamics of treatment was observed in the group of magnetic laser therapy, where the total number of UENS scale points decreased from 10.8 ± 1.0 to 7.7 ± 0.7 points (p < 0.001). In the group of magnetic therapy, a positive trend was also observed: a decrease in the sum of scores from 11.7 ± 0.3 to 9.3 ± 0.4 (p < 0.05). There was no significant downward trend in placebo groups. The patient’s assessment of general health after treatment with magnetic therapy increased from (38.0 ± 4.2) to (62.0 ± 6.7) points (p < 0.001), in the placebo group — from (39,3 ± 5.7) to (52.0 ± 6.4) points (p > 0.3). In the group of magnetic laser therapy this indicator increased from (36.7 ± 5.6) to (71.4 ± 4.5) points (p < 0.001), in the placebo group — from (37.2 ± 4.3) to (51,1 ± 6.7) points (p > 0.05). Thus, the study found that complex rehabilitation treatment with magnetic therapy and magnetic laser therapy reduces the duration and intensity of peripheral pain, improves vibration sensitivity in diabetic neuropathy. Comprehensive treatment improves the quality of life, which is manifested in anxiety and depression reduction, reducing restrictions on normal daily activities, increasing the integrated indicator of health.
