Abstract
A recent effective medium calculation of the frequency response of an amorphous semiconductor containing potential fluctuations is described. The importance for this model of the screening by deep states is emphasised, and the role of the detrapping time in governing the appropriate frequency scale is discussed. The model is applied to a range of measurements made on aSi:H.
