Abstract

Psychological and health data were obtained by questionnaire from 717 private obstetrical patients. Psychological variables discriminated between both primigravidae and multigravidae who later experienced complications. When the data were reanalyzed eliminating variance due to health problems before and during pregnancy and age, several of the psychological variables continued to discriminate multigravidae with and without complications, but none of the psychological variables discriminated between the two groups of primigravidae.
