Abstract

Abstract Of the commercially available growth retardants tested on Iresine herbsti Hook. cv. Acuminata and I. lindeni, Van Houtte, cv. Formosa, succinic acid-2,2-dimethylhydrazide (SADH) was the most effective in producing a compact desirable plant. Reduction in the green coloration in the foliage of ‘Formosa’ and the red coloration of ‘Acuminata’ occurred when SADH was used alone or in combination with (2-chloroethyl)trimethylammonium chloride (chlormequat).
