Abstract

In order to find out the influence of fire load density and smoke curtain on smoke exhaust efficiency of urban commercial complex, a 1/3 scaled experimental platform was built, and 8 groups of fire experiments were carried out. The results showed that when the fire load density is low (Q m1 =105.2kJ/m2), the fire smoke tends to spread horizontally in the first layer and then move to the upper space. When the fire load density is high (Q m2 =210.4kJ/m2), the smoke tends to move to the upper space more quickly, and there was higher probability to flashover. Whether the smoke curtain is set or not also has effect on smoke filling movement. After setting up the smoke curtain, the smoke was restricted in the fire chamber and the adjacent cloister. It is conducive to the mechanical smoke exhaust efficiency. When the smoke curtain was not set, the momentum of smoke vertical movement was increased, and the visibility of the cloister in 5th floor was low. In summary, the smoke exhaust efficiency is better in the condition of the low fire load density. Smoke curtain could effectively improve the efficiency of the complex's smoke exhaust system and it could maintain higher visibility in 5th floor.
