Abstract

INTRODUCTIONALTHOUGH maize is the most commonly used cereal grain in poultry rations there is some uncertainly as to the relative value of maize compared to other cereals. Although Lillie and Denton (1968) have recently determined the nutritional value of barley, oats, wheat and maize when fed as the sole grain in layer diets usually in this type of investigation the grain under study is fed in combination with other grains (Anderson and Draper, 1956; Brown and Hale, 1965; Brown et al., 1967; Gerry, 1958; Petersen and Lampman, 1955).
