Abstract

Aromatic electron-donating compounds (EDCs), such as toluene and dibutyl phthalate, were found to affect the content of photochromic spiroantrooxazine (SAO) incorporated into thermoplastic polymer matrices (for example, polyvinylchloride and F-42 fluoropolymer) via the method of supercritical fluid impregnation (SCFI) and influence the ratio of colored B and B x forms of SAO. The presence of EDCs in impregnated polymers induces reciprocal transformations between B and B x colored forms of SAO and increases the rate of their “dark” bleaching.
