Abstract

The stability against chemical pressure of the new magnetic ground state of Mn in the system Dy 1 − x Y x Mn 2 with 0.3 < 1 − x < 0.75 was studied by doping the system with La or Ni. The inherent volume anomaly at the magnetic transition cannot be suppressed indicating that the next neighbor Mn—Mn distance does not play a decisive role in determining the different magnetic ground states.
