Abstract

Although the cyclical environment can significantly influence the fatigue performance of the bonded joints, however, the interactions of cyclic ageing and fatigue loading on the mechanical performance of bonded joints have not been studied yet. Accordingly, the aim of the current study is to investigate the influence of cyclic ageing on the fatigue behaviour of epoxy adhesive joints using Arcan samples. Accordingly, different ageing frequencies, different ageing and drying cycles, and different loading conditions are analysed. As a result, performing a single ageing analysis overestimates the life of adhesive joints if they are exposed to cyclic environments. Results also showed that the life cycle decreases with the ageing frequency.
