Abstract

Objective To investigate the influence of different coping styles on poet - stroke depression (PSD). Methods Patients with PSD were assessed with basic information schedule table, self - rating depression scale (SDS) and simple coping style questionnaire. Results The score of positive coping in simple coping style questionnaire was significantly lower (P <0.001), while negative score was higher (P <0.001) in PSD group compared with those in post -stroke without depression group; the score of SDS had negative correlation (P < 0.001) with the score of positive coping in simple coping style. Conclusions Patients with positive coping style can reduce the occurrence of PSD. Key words: Stroke; Depression; Positive coping; Negative coping
