Abstract

Butylammonium lead chloride (BA)2PbCl4 and butylammonium lead cadmium chloride (BA)2Pb1-xCdxCl4 thin films were successfully prepared via a facile solution method. XRD patterns reveal that both the (BA)2PbCl4 and (BA)2Pb1-xCdxCl4 (x ≤ 0.6) films have a 2D structure with good crystallinity. Both the (BA)2PbCl4 and (BA)2Pb1-xCdxCl4 films exhibit broadband white-light emission. By varying Cd content, the emission characteristics of the (BA)2Pb1-xCdxCl4 thin films can be effectively regulated. At Cd content of 0.4, both the emission intensity and spectral width simultaneously achieve the maxima, which are remarkably superior to those of the pure (BA)2PbCl4 film. This work demonstrates that (BA)2Pb1-xCdxCl4 2D perovskites containing proper amount of Cd are highly promising for developing white-light emission devices.
