Abstract

Abstract The relationship between the percentage CO 2 in water and the blood glucose level in L. capensis has been investigated. An increase in CO 2 concentration in water results in a nonlinear increase in the blood sugar concentration. The results are discussed in light of the possible involvement of CO 2 as one cause of “asphyxiation hyperglycemia” in fish.
